Dr Alberto Troccoli is the head of the Weather and Energy Research Unit at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in Canberra (Australia).
Alberto has more than 15 years of experience in several aspects of meteorology and climate, including data assimilation, analysis of observations, weather and seasonal forecasts, and decadal climate projections. He has held research positions at NASA, the European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) the University of Reading. He has published widely in the scientific literature and has successfully managed several projects, including components of very large EU projects.
Alberto has been the Director of two very well received NATO events and he is the chief editor and an author of the books ‘Seasonal Climate: Forecasting and Managing Risk’ (Springer, 2008) and ‘Management of Weather and Climate Risk in the Energy Industry’ (Springer, 2010).
He has convened the successful Inaugural International Conference Energy & Meteorology (ICEM) held in Australia in 2011 (http://www.icem2011.org).
